## About

AIM Healthcare Hackathon is an in-person hackathon in Vienna, Austria, where clinicians and engineers build working prototypes together. It takes place October 29 – 30, 2026 at IBM Headquarters (Obere Donaustraße 95, 1020 Wien), and is an official European AI Innovation Month partner event, organized by AIM Austria. ## Tracks

Three on-site tracks, each with a real clinical use case, a dedicated prize pool, and a partner mentor throughout:

1. Clinical Adoption (Partner · IBM): The tool exists. Nobody uses it twice. Diagnose why, and fix the actual reason. Prize pool €5,000.
2. Diagnostic AI: Real, de-identified case data. Build for trust at the bedside, not just a benchmark. Prize pool €5,000.
3. Open Case (Open Track): Bring your own clinical problem. No brief, no pre-approval needed. Prize pool €5,000.

### Community Track

Primary prizes are awarded to on-site teams only. As an official partner event of the European AI Innovation Month, you can also join as a Community Track team: build remotely, pitch online via livestream, and win community prizes.

Each batch has its own application deadline; earlier batches get first pick of tracks and mentors.

## Venture Track (new this year)

Standout teams don't have to stop at the hackathon. Selected teams enter a follow-on track with AIM mentors, clinical validation support, and warm intros to healthcare investors and corporate partners.

## FAQ

### Do I need a clinical or technical background?
No specific background is required. Solo clinicians and solo engineers are both welcome. Teams are curated for a clinical/technical mix, so come ready to pair up fast if you apply alone.

### Can I apply solo or do I need a team?
Both work. Apply solo and we will help match you into a balanced team, or apply as a formed team of 2–4.

### Can I take part remotely?
Yes. Primary prizes are awarded to on-site teams only, but as an official partner event of the EU AI Innovation Month, remote teams can join the Community Track, pitch online via livestream, and win community prizes.

### What can I win?
€15,000+ in cash and credits across the three on-site tracks, plus community prizes for the Community Track and a possible spot on the follow-on Venture Track.

### Do I have to be an AIM member to apply?
No. The hackathon is open to students, clinicians, and engineers from any background. AIM membership is optional and free to join separately.
